 A Brazilian Girl Met Her Tragic Death in Indonesia's Rinjani Volcano 

(7/24) A 26-year-old Brazilian woman, Juliana Marins, was found dead after falling from Indonesia's infamous Mount Rinjani volcano. It was believed that she might have survived for up to 32 hours after the fall. However, the autopsy revealed that she died instantly, approximately 20 minutes after the incident.

 

Rinjani is an active volcano mountain in Indonesia, located in West Nusa Tenggara. It's famous amongst the hikers because it is the second highest volcano mountain in Indonesia, it offers you thrill and challenge because of its difficult geographical condition, and needs 2-4 days for hikers to reach the top. 

Rinjani is definitely not for the amateurs because of its extremely steep and rocky trail. 

According to the data, it was recorded that during 2016-2024, around 280 accidents happened in Rinjani, with 17 death and others are just 'injuries'. 

Marins was originally supposed to go on group trip of 4 other people with a local guide. At the day, she told everyone that she was kinda feeling unwell and the guide told her to take a rest for a while. It wasn't really clear on what actually happened precisely, but when the guide and the others came back to look checking for her, she was gone. 

And yeah.. that's how everyone got panicked. It became international news, the rescue team also sent and was looking for her for days. Her body was finally found on July 4, fell into the 650 meters deep volcanic steep, lifeless. 

The body was flown back the Brazil where she is originally came from and sent back to her family. 

It is a painful reminder for us to know our limit and own conditions and always put safety first.

Guys, if you're into hiking, maybe you have already heard at least once about Rinjani. Rinjani has this beautiful deep blue lake in the crater (see the photo), offers you breathtaking views, sweeping sunrise above the clouds, and others wonderful things. But it also has a very steepy, rocky terain, unpredictable weather, heavy fog, and considered to be extremely challenging (read: dangerous) even amongst indonesian hikers. So guys, if you happen to love nature, have a passion for hiking, and one day you feel like you want go give Rinjani a try, this is my personal opinion.. but maybe you should think about it twice.
